Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to find a stop, reserve a space or run their car park on Parffic, however they use the web. This page says what we have done, what we have not yet checked, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

What we have built in

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a link to skip straight to the content.
  • Pages are built with headings, landmarks, labelled form fields and buttons, so screen readers can describe and navigate them.
  • Text and controls are designed to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA contrast levels, and status is shown with words or icons as well as colour.
  • Pages reflow to a 320 pixel wide screen and to 400 percent zoom without scrolling sideways.
  • Every map has a list beside or below it with the same information, and map markers are not needed to use the page.
  • Car park bay diagrams can be used with the arrow keys, and also offered as a list.
  • Form errors are described in words next to the field they belong to, and longer forms list what to fix in one place.
  • Animation is kept to a minimum and turns off if your device is set to reduce motion.

What we have not yet verified

  • Parffic has not had an independent accessibility audit, and we do not claim certification against any standard.
  • Our checks are automated tests and our own keyboard testing. We have not yet tested with people who use screen readers or other assistive technology every day.
  • Map images come from OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap, and their street labels cannot be read by screen readers. The list beside each map has the same places.
  • Photos and floor plans that car park owners upload may not have a full description.

Tell us about a problem

If any part of Parffic is hard to use, email hi@parffic.com with the page address and what happened. A person on the team will reply, and we will tell you what we are doing about it. If you need information from a page in another form, ask and we will send it.
